Throughout the following process you will be supported by a member of the Department for Education Support Services Team.
If your child has been recommended for a special school option it may be appropriate to organise a visit to The Grove.
In Term 4 each year, an Open Morning will be organised for prospective parents of preschool and school age children to visit The Grove to view the facilities for a start the following year.

Child is enrolled in a Department for Education preschool or school. ▼ |
Families who have moved from interstate/overseas or are within the private system may contact Support Services directly. ▼ |
Parent/carer discusses learning needs of the child with site staff. ▼ |

Outcome of discussions results in referral to Department for Education Psychologist for assessment. ▼ |

The Department for Education Psychologist reviews and/or assesses the child’s learning needs to determine the most appropriate educational option. The recommendation may be for a special class, disability unit or special school. ▼ |

School and support services staff prepare the relevant information to be placed in a package that will support the child’s application for a placement within a special class, disability unit or special school. ▼ |

The placement panel meets to consider all of the information from all applicants within the process. ▼ |
|
Parents/carers are advised of the outcome if an offer of placement or notification of no available placement. ▼ |
|
Parent/carer involved with support services and school staff in planning for transition to school.
